Steps 1-3: Cut the Pieces and Drill the Holes

First, you'll need to cut the pieces for your doors. We used 1/2" plywood for our doors, but you can use whatever thickness you like. Just be sure to adjust your hinge placement accordingly. For our doors, we cut the following pieces:

2 side stiles @ 29" long each

6 top/bottom rails @ 12" long each

6 center rails @ 24" long each

Once you have all of your pieces cut, it's time to drill the holes for your hinges. For our doors, we placed the hinges 3" from the top and bottom of each door and 3/4" from the edge of the door. Once you've marked the locations for your hinge holes, use a drill to create pilot holes for screws.

Step 4: Assemble the Doors

Now it's time to assemble the doors! Start by attaching the stiles to the rails using wood glue and screws. Then, add the center rails in between the stiles. Be sure to square up your door as you go so that everything stays nice and level. Once all of the rails are attached, use a chisel and hammer to remove any excess glue that may have squeezed out.

Step 5: Finish Up

If desired, finish your doors by adding a coat of paint or stain (we used white paint). You could also leave your doors natural if you prefer. Just be sure to seal them with a coat of polyurethane to protect them from spills and splatters in the kitchen. And that's it! Your new slab cabinet doors are ready to hang!

Wrap up!

Give your kitchen a fresh new look with slab cabinet doors! This project is easy enough for anyone with basic woodworking skills and only requires a few supplies that you probably already have around the house. So what are you waiting for? Get started with your custom cabinet installation today!
